Victims & Witnesses
In 2023, the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs launched the Trauma Informed Justice Knowledge and Skills Framework for working with Victims and Witnesses, developed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES).
NES have created a range of learning resources (in partnership with victims and witnesses and people who work with them) to support a trauma informed approach for anyone working with victims and witnesses. In this TURAS learn site you will find a wide range of education resources designed to support you to:
- Understand the ways that trauma can impact on witnesses and their evidence
- Reduce re-traumatisation and further harm throughout the process
- Support the effective participation of witnesses to give the best evidence they can
- Reduce risks of vicarious traumatisation for staff and volunteers
